Mayo Engineering Ltd was started by Peter R. Mayo to provide equipment and services to the Investment Casting Industry. The Mayo family have been well known to the Investment Casting Industry since the 1960s.
It soon became apparent that there was a market for used Investment Casting machinery as well as new, so the decision was made to start both dealing in used equipment, and to also offer a part exchange service.
Peter R. Mayo is well known to the foundry industry in general, as in addition to Investment Casting equipment, it was decided in 1995 to add Sand and Die Casting equipment to the machinery sold by Mayo Engineering Ltd, and a number of major foundries were purchased by Mayo Engineering Ltd, and sold off across the globe. In addition to this, foundry closure sales have been handled on behalf of a number of major auction companies, in the UK, France, Canada, Germany and Spain.
The decline in the European sand and die casting industries, has seen this side of the business decline, only to be replaced with the sale of equipment from other industries, such as Sheet Metal and Machine Tools, where Mayo Engineering Ltd still play an active role. Plant and asset valuations were a natural progression, and this service was added in the year 2000.
In 1997, an agreement was reached with the Indian company Modtech Machines Pvt Ltd, to market and sell Modtech equipment across the world, in all markets outside of Modtech's own domestic market of India. The Mayo-Modtech partnership has flourished, with machines sold across the world to countries such as Germany, Japan, Singapore etc. etc. Modtech has grown substantially since 1997, and now encompasses 3 factories and an office building, and has also expanded into new markets and industries, including automation, design out-sourcing, plastics and the caps and closures industry.
Recent developments are in the adding of Jewellery manufacturing equipment to the range of services we offer. This is a natural progression to our conventional Investment Casting equipment, as the process is very similar. We are buying Jewellery equipment from across the globe, bringing it back to the UK, and then selling it across the world.
Due to the extensive contacts Mayo Engineering Ltd have within the worldwide foundry industry, it was decided in 2010 to add Casting Outsourcing to the range of services offered.
Finally, to complete the range of services, Mayo Engineering now offer a range of specialised Investment Casting waxes, and also buys in bulk, used Autoclaved Wax.
The future looks bright for Mayo Engineering Ltd, the world markets are now coming out of recession, and we are well placed to serve the needs of our customers, both old and new.
